ABOUT DOSA HUNTDOSA HUNT is a short film by Amrit Singh featuring a diverse group of music-world friends -- Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, Das Racist's Himanshu Suri and Ashok "Dapwell" Kondabolu, Yeasayer's Anand Wilder, Neon Indian's Alan Palomo, jazz pianist Vijay Iyer, and Stereogum's Executive Editor, Singh -- on a quest to find their hometown's best dosa. The delicious traditional South Indian crepe has earned this long-overdue cinematic closeup. But our our heroes' journey -- bantering in an Indian disco van, eating their way through the restaurants and grocery stores of Manhattan and Queens -- also explores the shared and respective cultures of this vibrant group of NYC artists in the wilds of their city. DOSA HUNT is a snapshot of a transitional generation in America's immigrant/art experience, in hot pursuit of good food.
ABOUT AMRIT SINGH
Amrit Singh has served as Executive Editor of Stereogum.com for seven years, writing and producing the website into a leading voice in independent music. His video journalism has appeared on ABC, MTV, and Fuse. (He also served as Editor of the University of Wisconsin International Law Journal, and is a NY State Bar certified attorney, but please don't remind his father of this.) LA Premiere @ The ArcLight Hollywood (Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles)
Southern California friends: DOSA HUNT is finally ready for its LA premiere, as an official selection to the Indian Film Festival Of Los Angeles. We’ll screen TWICE — at 7PM on Wednesday 4/10 and Friday 4/12 — at Hollywood’s ArcLight Cinema. HOW NICE. Tickets are available at this link.
In addition to our film, IFFLA will screen a Yash Chopra retrospective, projecting the legendary Bollywood filmmaker’s finest directorial moments — like Kabhi Kabhie and Silsila — on the ArcLight’s big screen. We’re proud to play a part. SEE YOU SOON.

DOSA HUNT Winter Film Awards Screening In NYC On Saturday, March 2nd
NYC! DOSA HUNT has been selected to screen at the Winter Film Awards, a three-day non-profit festival recognizing excellence in independent film. Our screening is Saturday, March 2nd at the Hotel Pennsylvania’s Globetrotter Ballroom during the 2PM-5PM screening block. (The Hotel is near Penn Station.)
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here. Read more info about the other films in DOSA HUNT’s screening block. It’ll be a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon in the city, come on out.

DOSA HUNT Screening @ San Francisco Asian Art Museum for CAAM Fest 2013
Proud to share that DOSA HUNT has been selected as the “New Directions” choice for CAAM Fest (formerly San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival) 2013! The three-hour DOSA HUNT event will be Thursday, March 21st from 6-9PM at the SF Asian Art Museum. There will be the screening, a performance by Das Racist’s Heems and Dapwell as Indian Bastards From Hell, a Q&A with filmmaker Amrit Singh, a beer, and access to the museum’s new Chinese Terracotta Warriors exhibit. Dosa will be served from a food truck, and also in the museum’s restaurant (Café Asia, of course). If you are near San Francisco then, please join us, it’s going to be perfect.

NYC, we’re screening again for you! On Thursday, February 7th at (le) poisson rouge in the Village, DOSA HUNT will play at around 8:30PM for Co-Lab, the earlier portion of DJ Rekha’s legendary Basement Bhangra dance party (which has just moved to LPR from S.O.B.’s). Arrive before 8PM and walk-up tickets are just $5. (Or buy them online now for $10; yes, you are paying a premium for insurance.) That gets you the screening, a DJ set from Dapwell, and the dance party that follows into the night. And if you don’t bhangra, don’t worry: There’s a free lesson that precedes the party.
